Perfect Creature

Written and directed by Glenn Standring, Perfect Creature is a highly original retelling of the vampire myth, set in an alternate world. Science fiction and horror coalesce in a suspenseful, elegant, action film about race, serial killings and the capacity of human beings to hope.

synopsis

Three centuries ago, an Italian alchemist – Guiseppi De Angelo - accidentally discovered the basic secrets of genetic science. With that single act, history changed forever. For 300 years great plagues have swept the earth, diseases created from the continuing experiments of the alchemists. Thinking they had discovered God’s secrete code for life, the alchemists experimented without concern for the results. Plagues and influenzas have ravaged Europe and the rest of the colonies ever since.

But the Alchemist Guiseppi De Angelo also discovered something else. He discovered a miracle. Something else had been created from the great plagues. They were new race of beings. They were the Brothers; the result of a genetic mutation - only occurring in males - initiated by one of the plagues.

Knowing this fact De Angelo had then formed a church around these beautiful children who he believed were a gift, sent by God, in humanities time of need. For 300 years the Church of the Holy Brotherhood has been the spiritual custodian of the human race, helping to guide humankind and tend to their spiritual needs, as well as being the custodians of genetic science; keeping its dangerous potential in safety until better understood.

They have also helped humanity fight the diseases that regularly sweep the planet. And this relationship, between humankind and the Brothers, is symbiotic. In return for their dedication to preserving human life, The Brothers ask humanity to share only one thing: Their blood.

how

Digipost delivered around 120 visual effects shots for Perfect Creature. As a combination of early 20th Century technology and Gothic architecture, a large part of the VFX work involved enhancing the look and feel of the film.

Our team of Flame/Inferno Artists completed a wide range of tasks for the producers, including rig removals and composites of matte paintings, miniatures and 3D elements, through to set extensions of sprawling urban landscapes and more subtle effects like the enhancement of the vampires’ appearance.
