The Natural Order

The Tasmanian Tiger has always been the face of Cascade Premium. Now there is a new breed of tiger.

what

Taking a cue from the Tasmanian Tiger on the bottle label, the new Cascade Premium beer commercial ‘The Natural Order’ features characters whose personalities are represented by animal heads stitched onto human bodies. Director Jesse Warn’s vision was to create a rich and classical “noir feel” that juxtaposes nicely with the 3D elements.

how

Academy Award winning cinematographer John Seale shot The Natural Order on 35mm film. Having captured real life performances as a guide, seven photo-real animal heads were tracked onto actors chosen for their similarity to the animals they portrayed. Care was taken over expressions and movement for each 3D character to create believable performances needed to help deliver the story line.

Digipost 3D lead James Cunningham designed the technical aspects of the job with Director Warn. A team of 3D and VFX specialists lead by Cunningham worked for 18 weeks to bring the new look Urban Tiger and friends to life. Digital surgery of head replacement over the live action took the finesse of senior Flame/Inferno artist Stu Bedford. 35mm transfer and grade was completed in Spirit by senior colourist Pete Williams.
