synopsis

Canon demonstrates the simplicity of their digital video cameras through the transformation of a building and its contents (furniture, fittings, people), from a complex architectural form into the clean contemporary lines of a minimalist designer dwelling, all in one fluid evolutionary sequence.

what

Singapore based Mooi Productions partnered with Digipost to create a unique spot that delivered the level of impact the agency and client were looking for. The ‘Complexity to Simplicity’ theme is delivered through an innovative sequence built in 3D. Using fantastical imagery, Digipost’s team were asked to create highly original transformations of everyday objects, demonstrating the simplicity of Canon technology.

how

The commercial was almost entirely computer generated. Digipost’s 3D team designed the environments and animated seamless transitions. 2D and 3D elements were composited in Inferno with additional smoke and light atmosphere elements.

Animators Nick Wilson, James Cunningham and John Stevenson-Galvin collaborated closely with senior Flame/Inferno operator Stu Bedford for the job. A final grade in Spirit by senior colourist Pete Williams completed the picture.
