Toyota/

Flying Fox

Tapping into the great kiwi dream, Toyota entertains with a ute-load of fun in this good hearted DIY adventure

what

This fanciful story is set within a cluster of seaside holiday dwellings sporting customary bach furniture, kitsch curtains and grandma’s hand-me-down crockery and cutlery.

Saatchi & Saatchi ECD Mike O’Sullivan teamed up with art director Tim Huse and copywriter Hywel James to tell a story that is not product heavy, but resonates with the kiwi "can-do" spirit and speaks to our love of summer holidays at the beach.

how

Filmed on location at New Zealand’s beautiful Buckleton Beach, DoP John Toon captured flying fox action amid a sandy bay adorned with Pohutukawa - Aotearoa New Zealand’s native Christmas tree.

Flying Fish director Gregor Nicholas, well-known for the gravity of his spectacular Tourism New Zealand work, garnered a strong performance from a carefully selected cast.  Nicholas’ sense of timing and eye for detail produced an appealing and popular commercial.

Digipost’s post production team included lead Flame artist Stu Bedford who took care of visual effects and conform. Experienced senior colourist Dave Gibson graded the pictures, enhancing the natural beauty of the idealic location.
